Nero Claudius Drusus, died 9 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.75 g, 12 h), Lugdunum, struck under Claudius, circa 41-42. NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Head of Nero Claudius Drusus to left, wearing oak wreath. Rev. Triumphal arch surmounted by equestrian statue left between two trophies, the rider raising his right hand in salute and holding spear in his left; on architrave, DE GERMANIS. BMC 101 corr. (head laureate). CBN 6. CNR Vol. XI, p. 117, 24/1 (this coin). Cohen 4 corr. (head laureate). Giard 27. RIC 72 corr. (head laureate). Beautiful old collection toning. Light scratches on the obverse and the reverse a bit weak, otherwise, good very fine.

The triumphal arch depicted on the reverse of this beautiful denarius was commissioned by Augustus to commemorate the victories of his beloved stepson in Germania.
